With last minute gift ideas as rare as gold dust this year, music fans have been given the chance to give a lump of pure bullion to their family and friends this Christmas. Three of the world’s most popular celebrities have come together to produce the perfect gift for music lovers everywhere. ‘The 3 Cliffs’ is a collaboration between three of the biggest names in popular music: Cliff Richard, Cliff Thorburn, and Cliff Clavin (who played the character ‘John Ratzenberger’ in TV’s Cheers).

The double album of songs has currently at number one in the American album charts with Clavin’s cover version of ‘A Winter Wonderland’ entering the US singles charts at number 72. ‘You know,’ he said, ‘it’s just about that perfect Christmas gift we’re all looking for this year. I think that’s because it’s the right size to go through a letter box and will cost you very little in postage, especially if you wrap it in an A5 manilla jiffy bag with a self-seal flap.’

‘We come from different places musically,’ admitted Thorburn after a sell out gig at Birmingham’s Crucible theatre. ‘I’m a natural entertainer but this was still a great chance for me. Because my vocal range is so high and is technically an octave about what would be sung by a castrato, it’s rare to be invited to duet with anybody.’ Cliff Richard was equally positive about the collaboration. ‘Once I got to know these lovely God fearing guys, I began to explore new territories. I think my cover of Black Sabbath’s Paranoia is one of the best things I’ve ever done. We’ll be singing it on Ant and Dec’s Yule Log on ITV on Christmas Day and I plan to bite the head of a bat. It’ll make them wish they’re back in the jungle.’
